Highway 20 expansion

Six lanes from Canton to Cumming, and the closest stretch starts this summer.

The Georgia DOT is widening Highway 20, the Cumming Highway, from two lanes to six along the 20 miles between I-575 in Canton and Cumming. Each finished segment gets three lanes each way, a 20-foot raised median, turn lanes, and sidewalks.

The segment from East Cherokee Drive to Highway 369, the piece nearest this property, was awarded to C.W. Matthews for $25.5 million. Construction begins summer 2026 and is scheduled to finish by July 2029. The stretches from I-575 to Union Hill Road are already complete. When it is done, the run to I-575, Canton, and GA 400 gets faster and safer, and land along the corridor rarely gets cheaper.
